We weave creative thinking, community insights, industry knowledge and media connections into every campaign, making a genuine impact on real people. We work to provide a positive change in the world of sport for both our clients and the communities they serve.

Our extended team, Run Represented, allows us to do things differently. Our diverse network of community leaders and content creators help to build the authentic roots of each campaign, on which we can deliver high-impact results.

We also have a dedicated women’s sports practice, Run x, offering strategy, PR & campaign delivery and social to brands & organisations who want to connect in a more meaningful way with women & girls through sport.

Managing Director

Steve Chisholm

Steve is a strategic communications professional with over 25 years’ experience working for major clients and media organisations. He is one of the best-connected individuals working in sport and the media today. Steve leads Run Communications, an agency of talented practitioners that seeks to present innovative and collaborative solutions to brands, sport and the media. After a 10 year broadcasting career with the BBC, Steve spent the next decade helping to build one of the major sports marketing businesses in the UK. Steve launched Run in September 2012.

Sara has 15 years’ experience planning and implementing high profile integrated marketing, sponsorship and public relations campaigns in the sport and consumer sectors. With both brand and agency experience — EDF Energy, Fast Track & the London 2012 Olympic Bid — Sara enjoys planning and executing innovative and differentiated projects that deliver real results.

Jess Whitehorn

After 17 years as UK Sport's Deputy Director of Engagement and External Affairs, Jess Whitehorn is joins Run Communications as Associate Director, where she will drive the positive impact and growth of Olympic and Paralympic sport. 

Jess will now support Run as they look to develop further impact in the Olympic and Paralympic space, deliver positive social outcomes through major event legacy and drive influential projects at grassroots and community level.

Jess is a senior communications specialist with over 15 years’ experience working for leading brands and organisations including Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025, MCC/Lord’s, McDonald’s, NHS, The National Lottery & Help for Heroes/Invictus Games. She was also the senior lead for The National Lottery’s UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 and FIFA Women's World Cup campaigns.

As a mum of two, Jess is passionate about helping create genuine equal opportunities for women & girls, both on and off the field.

Kelly Simmons OBE

Kelly Simmons OBE is a hugely influential figure in the development and promotion of women's sport across the globe. 

With a career spanning over two decades in sport, she has been instrumental in driving growth, investment, and visibility for women’s football across the country. In her role as the Director of Women's Professional Game at The FA, Kelly was responsible for overseeing the strategic development of women's football in England, including national teams, grassroots initiatives, and the Women’s Super League (WSL). 

Kelly has been a key advocate for equality in sport, focusing on improving opportunities for women at all levels of football. In addition to her work at The FA, Kelly has been a prominent voice in advocating for more coverage and recognition of women’s sport. 

As well as working with Run, she also consults for many global organisations including the Women in Football Board, Premiership Women’s Rugby, FIFA Competitions and UEFA Match Delegate.

Ben Moore

With almost a decades industry experience, Ben has worked in a variety of different environments to create bespoke content for digital platforms. Specialising in video production and social media management, Ben also has first-hand experience in graphic design, photography, copywriting and account management.

Having previously worked with Southampton Football Club and Sussex Police, Ben has an excellent track record of producing outstanding content in fast-paced and demanding environments.

Joel Essex

Joel has nearly 20 years agency and in-house experience in sports marketing and public affairs. He has specific expertise in national & regional media relations and political & stakeholder engagement, with a particular interest in community sport and the sport for development sector.

He has worked for clients including Brighton & Hove Albion FC, The Belfry, Leyton Orient Trust and London United – a collaborative partnership of the community trusts of London’s 15 professional football clubs.

With experience across a wide range of mediums, Brad is a digital creative with a passion for telling stories through content creation. Specialising in video production, photography and graphic design, Brad also has experience in social media management after running various social channels / accounts for clients.

Having previously worked in the music industry, Brad brings a creative and passionate flare to all his work regardless of the environment or project at hand.

Charlie Benny

Following four years based at the our Brighton office, Charlie is now based in Japan, leading on new opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region.

Since joining the team in 2021, Charlie has supported a number of Run’s key clients, primarily delivering on purpose-driven campaigns and sport’s social impact – including for UK Sport, ParalympicsGB, and UK Coaching. 

Most recently he also led the Paris 2024 social impact campaign ‘ChangeMakers’, a partnership between the new operator of The National Lottery, Allwyn, UK Sport, Team GB and ParalympicsGB, supporting athletes to get involved with social impact projects they are personally passionate about.

Tom recently graduated from News Associates’ School of Journalism and has experience across a number of storytelling mediums, including print, online & broadcast. He loves interacting with people through his passion for sports and hopes to inspire more people to lead healthier, active lives. 

He is also a keen football fan and can be found most Saturdays watching his team, AFC Wimbledon, whilst also hosting a live show for the club.

Amy joined Run after graduating from St Andrews, and immediately got stuck in as part of the team executing our Paris 2024 activity for The National Lottery, delivering all 15 activations with significant national media coverage. This year, Amy is working with major sport clients, including Rugby World Cup and MCC & Lords.

Sue Lacey

Sue joined the Run team in August 2022 following a career as a buyer with much loved UK brand Laura Ashley, where she was responsible for sourcing many of the decorating lines within the home furnishings department.

After leaving Laura Ashley, Sue set up her own home textile business designing and supplying lambswool throws to hotels and retailers across the UK and the US. She brings a wealth of experience in financial planning to Run and is the company’s resident expert baker!
