Specialist sports communications agency Run Communications has been appointed by the Lawn Tennis Association to provide regional PR support for their historic 10-year community-led investment programme to transform grassroots tennis facilities across Great Britain.

The LTA announced in June the £250 million Transforming British Tennis Together initiative, their biggest ever investment in the sport. It has committed to investing £125 million to improve community tennis facilities across the country, and plans to unlock a further £125 million through match-funding from community networks with a shared vision for growing the game.

Through Transforming British Tennis Together, the LTA hope to double the number of covered and floodlit courts over the next decade, whilst also increasing online court booking and digital access systems.

Run will provide regional PR support for the programme as the LTA looks to engage local authorities, clubs, community groups and businesses to submit ideas for funding to develop new facilities and improve existing ones.

Run are reporting directly into Lauren Best, Head of PR at the LTA who said:

“We were impressed with Run’s response to the brief, their time and investment understanding our business and the scale of this project as a wider strategic programme for British Tennis. The team have really shown their breadth and understanding of the regional media landscape and the importance of landing our message at a local level, as a key partnership grassroots project to grow tennis in Great Britain.”

Steve Chisholm, Managing Director, Run Communications said:

“We are delighted to be working with the LTA on what is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to increase participation and transform grassroots tennis facilities in Great Britain. Transforming British Tennis Together is an initiative with great potential to make a real difference to communities across the country and we are excited to be part of the LTA’s vision.”
