Reflecting on 2024

17 Dec 2024

Well, that’s another year done, and for us at Run Communications, it’s been another one which we’ll look back on with an enormous amount of pride.

From starting the year at Cheltenham Festival with Boodles, to finishing the year at Bushy Park with parkrun, it's certainly been a year we'll never forget.

There’s no doubt that the highlight of our year – and for many others in the world of sport – was the Paris 2024 Olympic & Paralympic Games.

We’re lucky to have spent much of our 12 years working in this space, so being able to be so heavily involved in the Games this summer was brilliant for us.

At the heart of our summer were the campaigns and activity we delivered for The National Lottery and it’s new operator, Allwyn.

We kicked off the summer by leading on the promotion for their two ‘Path to Paris’ documentaries on Channel 4, and then moved on to deliver countless live media events and launch the first wave of their social impact campaign, ChangeMakers.

It’s also been a standout year for parkrun as they celebrated their 20th anniversary – it’s been both a privilege and a pleasure to collaborate with them on this significant milestone. As well as delivering a groundbreaking media partnership for them with Metro (who saw the special ‘birthday card’ edition of the paper in October?), we also went back to where it all began in Bushy Park to deliver some incredible media activity.

We’ve also seen success with the launch of Run x this year, our dedicated women’s sport practice, which has been a major milestone for us. Jess Arnold and her team are doing incredible work, not only with the Women’s Rugby World Cup, but also in developing exciting new ideas for 2025. Keep an eye out for what’s to come there!

Most importantly, I want to highlight the new talent that’s joined the business this year. A particular mention to Tom and Amy, two of our younger employees who have stepped up and demonstrated incredible skills, maturity beyond their years, brilliant ideas, and a fantastic drive to deliver for our clients.

Whether it’s MCC and Lords, England Athletics, ParalympicsGB, The National Lottery, parkrun, or the Play Their Way campaign for Sport England, there’s been no shortage of variety or challenges this year. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved and are looking forward to building on this success as we move into 2025.

A huge thank you to all our staff, clients, and partners who’ve helped make this year such a memorable one. We can’t wait for what’s next!
