Run’s summer of campaigning starts now…

21 Apr 2017

The UK’s politicians may be headed for their election buses to embark on a whirlwind tour of the country but Team Run got a head start…

This month, we’ve been up the London Eye with the stars of Rugby Union and across the length and breadth of the country with the inspirational athletes of Team England.

One Year to Go until Gold Coast 2018

4th April marked exactly a year to go until the 2018 Commonwealth Games on Australia’s Gold Coast. This provided Commonwealth Games England with a great opportunity to generate national excitement for Team England, who will be sending the largest ever – and best prepared – English team to an overseas Games next year.

To capitalise on the opportunity Run coordinated a massive media operation which included eight BBC regional media events and a national BBC media tour in Salford on the 4th April, organised in advance for interviews and copy to land in national and regional newspapers and Sky News on the day, worked closely with NGBs and athletes to gain their digital support and conducted a large, visual, engaging social media campaign.

We reached millions of people on the 4th April, with big hits including Maddie Hinch on BBC Breakfast and BBC Sport Facebook Live to a young gymnast being filmed by BBC Midlands Today for a package to run that evening.

A great result, keeping Run’s CGE team very busy in April.

Bath Rugby on the London Eye

To kick off the week building up to the biggest weekend of premiership rugby in London ever, Run coordinated a media event on the London Eye with stars from Bath Rugby and Saracens, with both players looking ahead to their respective matches at Twickenham and Wembley.

Run, working with Bath Rugby on The Clash, arranged for media interviews in a pod of the London Eye with ITV London, BBC Radio London, City A.M., Pundit Arena and Sportsbeat.

The Clash, which saw Bath Rugby take a regular home season match to Twickenham for the first time, overcome fierce rivals Leicester Tigers in front of over 62,000 fans in a massively successful match for the club.
